Welcome! I am the ‘Summa Momma’! a.k.a. Christina, a.k.a. Mrs. Zelie Margaret, OP.
I was raised Catholic in a classic midwestern town, the eldest of three girls. We were all faithful Sunday church-goers and I received all of my sacraments, but I never thought of “faith” as something one could delve into academically. Little did I know that in coming to know Christ through study, I would come to love Him even more.
Many years ago, I went off to college thinking that I would become a radiologist and began pre-med courses. Three semesters and many late-night conversations with God later, I found myself transformed into a budding Philosophy and Theology major. After interning in Campus Ministry for a year following graduation, my new husband and I set off together to graduate school. I earned a Masters in Theological Studies and began my career as a full-time mom and catechist.
In 2011, I became a certified Natural Family Planning instructor. If you’re interested in learning more, please see my NFP page for info on the method I teach. You can also check out my personal NFP newsletter by visiting the ‘Library’ page.
It wasn’t until 2012 that I recognized a call to the life of a Lay Dominican. All of a sudden, it seemed that every aspect of my vocation came together. Imagine my delight when this former state-speech champion realized she could use these talents to serve the Church! Suddenly, I found a “name” for my love of study and preaching, and I saw how being a mother and wife were a part of my apostolate as a lay woman. I am deeply passionate about sharing my love of Christ and His Church: the teachings, writings, liturgy and especially the holy witnesses of faith- the Saints.
If you would like to hire me to speak at an event, lecture series, or to plan retreats or workshops for your parish or school, please visit the “Speaking Engagements” portion of the website.
Thank you for visiting! I hope to hear from you and learn how God is working in YOUR life!
Oh, and just for fun…
